One of the Slovak authors we approached to collaborate with X for its fifth issue is Daniela Krajčová, who reflects topics connected to memory for a long time. In her works she focuses mostly on drawing that she shifts into animation or various projects with social and participative dimension. She presents drawing as a tool for criticism that reminds us of negative events in our history. In some of her works she literally animates memory by inserting cartoon comments into real environment, thus creating a sort of alternative forms of memorials. She also draws our attention to actual problems of marginalised groups of people, where she focuses on the issue of inclusion of Roma or refugees. For our magazine she created a new project Reconstruction of the Market – an animation of drawings. Some of them can be found in a special edition of this issue. The work of Daniela Krajčová is presented in an extensive text by Ján Kralovič.
